Dear Brothers in Christ,
I enthusiastically endorse Catholic Men's Fellowship of California, as did my predecessors: the late Most Reverend Dennis O'Neil, Auxilary Bishop of the Diocese of San Bernardino, and Most Reverend Joseph M Saroris, retired Auxilary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
CMF is a lay apostolate whose purpose is "to encourage men to become daily followers of Christ." In the gospels, Jesus calls each of us to deny ourselves, to take up our cross each day and follow him CMF provides men a forum, a safe place, where men can informally gather in Christian fellowship and inspire one another to answer Jesus' call to follow him and become fishers of men.
Catholic Men's Fellowship holds regional conferences, retreats, leadership days, and other events to encourage men to build up their faith. Additionally, CMF has prepared several publications to assist men in establishing local groups - of special note is the "CMF Resource Guide for Developing Men's Ministry Groups". I recommend this as an excellent aid in helping those who desire to start a CMF group in the parish or on campus.
I invite you to visit CMF at www.catholicmen.org and get to know this growing men's ministry. I will continue to pray for the Lord's blessing and the guidance of the Holy Spirit on all of the men of Catholic Men's Fellowship of California. May you be filled with Wisdom and Grace.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend David G. O'Connell
Auxiliary Bishop of Los Angeles
